For whom are cowboys actually still sexy? In the night we have become REAL men. Or heroes? We cry under the beer table and one thing is for sure: the fries in the swimming pool are fattier than my bum. Someone had to win the mating dance. And lose the antler fight. Sure, the two of us can be a band.
Die Nacht in der wir Männer wurden is an entertaining evening of physical theater with a night-life vibe, drag and original live music that explores positive forms of modern masculinity. From a non-binary and trans*-masculine perspective, the (i)dentityteam questions what masculinity actually is and how we want to be masculine. The artists use a wide range of artistic elements such as movement, choreography, music, stand-up comedy, acting and, of course, drag! You can expect a humorous, artistic and raw deep dive into the open-air pool of identity formation, puberty, coming-outs and transition. There are songs about feelings and male roles in relationships; there are cowboys, swimwear and courtship dances; and above all, there is one important question: Is this masculine now?

Our culture and heritage are (partly) inscribed in our bodies, our cells, and our habits. How do culture, origin, and social spaces shape our movements, postures, and inner structures? The Cultural Moves workshop invites participants to consciously perceive culturally imprinted movement patterns and forms of expression and to experience them. Through physical exploration, observation, and lots of exchange, we examine how individual and collective stories manifest themselves in the body. Joint improvisations and small group compositions create spaces for dialogue, resonance, and new perspectives. The workshop is aimed at anyone interested in the body, movement, culture, and encounter – no prior knowledge is required.

ABOUT THE ARTIST Caroline Simon is a dancer and dance teacher who has been working in Cologne for 25 years. Here she has danced in over 20 productions by the Silke Z. company, among others. Since 2022, she has been focusing her artistic work on methods of dance improvisation – both in performance and in teaching. She performs her solos Momentology and Einen Moment, bitte (for young audiences) in North Rhine-Westphalia and abroad. She is a founding member of the European network studiotrade and co-founder and co-director of the ehrenfeldstudios.
This class proposes a training that combines physical practice, improvisation and real-time composition. The focus is on developing a conscious stage presence, an active bodily awareness and the ability to make decisions within the creative process.
The work will explore:
physical activation and body availability
improvisation and composition tools
the relationship between body, space and sound
attention, perception and stage presence
development of personal language
The training moves between technique and research, creating a space where each participant can expand their resources and autonomy as a performer-creator.

A rotating roster of regional and international instructors leads the classes, bringing diverse artistic perspectives, training methods, and movement approaches. About the artist Catalina Carrasco is a dancer, choreographer and pedagogue with over 20 years of international experience. Since 2013, she co-directs the company BAAL together with Gaspar Morey, developing stage works that explore the relationship between body and technology as a space of resistance and poetry.
Her work moves between contemporary dance and performance. She has presented her creations and collaborations across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America.
She holds a degree in Contemporary Dance from the University Miguel Hernández and has further trained in Madrid, Barcelona, London, Berlin, Tel Aviv and Reykjavík, integrating practices such as classical dance, Butoh, Gaga, contact improvisation, Katsugen and physical theatre.
She has collaborated with international artists and companies such as RADIAL SYSTEM Sasha Waltz & Guests, Mariantònia Oliver, Kristóf Szabó, Joan Morey, Isabel Castro and Mercedes Boronat, developing a strong trajectory in interdisciplinary and experimental contexts.
Her work has been recognized with awards such as CENIT and ATAPIB, and supported by European programs such as Culture Moves Europe and Perform Europe. She is currently an associated artist at ehrenfeldstudios.
Age(ing) concerns all of us – throughout our entire lives. This makes the questions of how age(ing) moves us, how we want to move as we age, and how we shape age(ing) both socially and artistically relevant. Approaching these topics through a physical and dance-based practice in a low-hierarchy, non-judgemental environment offers participants space to explore, question, and experience.

Hunch, a solo improvisation | by and with Liisa Pentti In this solo improvisation Liisa Pentti is looking for leaks where the undefined, the unexpected and the unconscious are becoming conscious and shaping the dance. Dance has the potential to be the new place, a place which has not yet been, a place that is not so much of drama but of poetry. Images arise carrying the dance along and dissolving into moments of not-knowing and wondering.
