Our culture and heritage are (partly) inscribed in our bodies, our cells, and our habits. How do culture, origin, and social spaces shape our movements, postures, and inner structures? The Cultural Moments workshop invites participants to consciously perceive culturally imprinted movement patterns and forms of expression and to experience them. Through physical exploration, observation, and lots of exchange, we examine how individual and collective stories manifest themselves in the body. Joint improvisations and small group compositions create spaces for dialogue, resonance, and new perspectives. The workshop is aimed at anyone interested in the body, movement, culture, and encounter – no prior knowledge is required.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Caroline Simon is a dancer and dance teacher who has been working in Cologne for 25 years. Here she has danced in over 20 productions by the Silke Z. company, among others. Since 2022, she has been focusing her artistic work on methods of dance improvisation – both in performance and in teaching. She performs her solos Momentology and Einen Moment, bitte (for young audiences) in North Rhine-Westphalia and abroad. She is a founding member of the European network studiotrade and co-founder and co-director of the ehrenfeldstudios.
