The Ageing Body – das Fest! | Performance Lab with Silke Z. & Caroline Simon

During one week, ehrenfeldstudios will focus on GENERATION Plus.

Aging affects us all—and it does so throughout our entire lives. Precisely for this reason, questions about how aging affects us and how we shape our experience of aging are relevant in the social and in the context of dance art. The physical and dance-based approach to these themes in a non-hierarchical and non-judgmental environment offers participants the freedom to explore, question, and experience.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Silke Z. is dedicated to exploring methods for the artistic development of contemporary dance. In this process, she and her ensemble view dance as a direct form of expression for human emotions and needs, and artistic production as a means of reflecting society and bringing perspectives on a given theme to light. Silke Z. has developed over 43 dance productions in Germany and abroad with her intergenerational team. Her works have received numerous national and international awards. Z. founded and directs the ehrenfeldstudios and the international network studiotrade.

Caroline Simon is a dancer and dance educator who has been working in Cologne for 25 years, where she has danced in over 30 productions by Silke Z., among others. Since 2022, her artistic focus has been on methods of dance improvisation—both in performance and in education. She performs her solos Momentology and Einen Moment, bitte (for young audiences) in North Rhine-Westphalia and abroad. She is a founding member of the European network *studiotrade* and a co-founder and co-director of the ehrenfeldstudios.
